Kathy Wappel has either been studying, performing, teaching, choreographing or competing in dance since the age of five. She’s a former professional dancer, having studied in NYC … and performed on cruise ships, Off-Broadway, Broadway National Tours and Summer Stock. She started Ballroom dancing at the age of 48 and started competing, with her teacher, at the age of 50. She has placed 1st in Regional and National competitions in both smooth and rhythm dances.
Kathy began teaching around 2010. But in 2013, took the leap to get her actual teacher training from the Ballroom Dance Teacher’s College (associated with DVIDA – Dance Vision International Dance Association), which is the nation’s premier vocational dance teacher training program. It’s a 16 month program, which Kathy completed in 4 months, preparing her to teach both Lead and Follow in 17 different dances recognized by the DVIDA international community.
She loves sharing her dance passion with others because dancing is JOY, at the deepest level of the soul, and bringing this joy to others, in their own lives, is deeply gratifying.
